Date of
Birth: 05/12/2011
Foal Coat:
Black
Sire: Stoney Acres Salem, 33" - black - NLP - no
cross or stripe
Dam: H.R.
Sunshine - dark brown
This little
jack is a complete package: Short-bodied, excellent build and excellent
bite. He is being listed for sale for the first time (November 2011). We
had considered keeping him for a herdsire, but decided we really don't need
any more herdsires! Our loss is your gain.

H.R. Black Legend |
|
 |
Date of Birth: 12/10/2010
21" at birth
Foal Coat: black
Sire: H.R. Freedom, 29-1/2", black, nlp
Dam: H.R. Mimosa, 34-1/2", black
This little jack was born at 9 p.m. We had decided to
put Mimosa in the stall that night with the cameras on and I planned on
waking every hour or so to check.... Had checked on her about 8:30 and
didn't see anything happening. But, for some reason, I went back out at 9 to
check and she was walking around with a "bubble" with a visible nose and
hoof! Hubby went into action immediately, and it's a good thing, as one hoof
was cocked and it was a red bag delivery. We are so thankful all went well.
This little guy is very short-bodied and is as black as they come. He has a
few white hairs on his forehead, other than that: black! I feel very
strongly he will remain that way. His mom is also a true blue-black. This is
Mimosa's first baby and she didn't need any help with teaching him where the
milk was. Black Legend is for sale.

H.R. Cricket |
|
 |
|
Date of Birth: 08/28/2010
Foal Coat: black
Sire: H.R. Freedom, 29-1/2" black, nlp
Dam: H.R. Michelle, 33-1/2", dark brown
First-time mom, Michelle is a super mother. She didn't
need any help showing this baby where to get milk, etc. It all came
automatically for her. Cricket is a beautiful jennet and is a joy to have
around. I think I see a hint of a stripe, so she may be brown. She has all
the attributes to make a nice brood jenny or show jenny. Cricket is for
sale.

Sire: H.R. Freedom, 29-1/2", black, nlp
Dam: Short ASSets Millicent (AKA Millie),
32-7/8", dark brown
This little guy was born on a very, very hot night.
Mom didn't want us near him. She is always very protective of her babies.
Took him a while to warm up to us as he took the que from mom. He has turned
into a very nice little jack. He has good conformation, bite, and legs. He
is for sale.

H.R. Cracker Jack |

|
|
23-1/2" at 11 days old
Foal Coat: Spot
Sire: H.R. Desi, black,
33-1/2"
Dam: Little Friends Enchilada,
spot
Cracker Jack was named by Judy Pearson, his new owner.
He will go to Arkansas with her the end of December. He will be their new
herdsire. Cracker Jack is the first foal of Little Friends Enchilada and she
sure loves her boy. It's going to be a tough separation for her, though I
don't think he will even care! Cracker Jack has good conformation, etc. and
will be a very nice herdsire in time. Don't you just love his name?

Date of Birth: 12/10/2010
Foal coat: black
21 1/4" at birth
Sire: Stoney Acres Salem, 33" - black - NLP - no
cross or stripe
Dam: Gardner's Tinata Lynn, 21-1/4", dark brown
This
is one of my all time favorite mom/baby photos, taken the day Winston was
born. He is dark brown with a white star. Good teeth, legs, etc. This
donkey had been sold, along with H.R. Jasper, but the long-distance travel
made it impractical and the deal fell through. So, in November, 2011, we
are offering Winston for sale.

beautiful boy! Sabrina is such a natural as a mom. This little boy has
such a beautiful head, as well as great build, good teeth, good lines;
everything you could want for a herdsire or a pet. He had been sold shortly
after he was born, but the long distance made it impractical to transport
him to the new home. Along with H.R. Winston, he is now available for sale
again (November 2011).

Foal Coat: black
Sire:
H.R. Freedom, 29-1/2", black, nlp
Dam:
Gearhardt A.J. Arial, 33", spot
Our neighbor called us at 7:30
a.m. Halloween to let us know our spotted donkey had a baby and he was
trying to get up. We immediately ran to him. We hadn't even suspected Arial
was due, as her bag had not filled! We prayed all would be well. Better than
that....he was totally healthy, eager to get to his feet and take on the
world! Mom had milk, but we supplemented additional colostrum because her
bag always felt "drained". Spook is thriving and as perfect as can be. We've
never had a baby this small and continually laugh as he goes under mom's
belly. This is Arial's first baby and she is a super mom. Spook is super
friendly. I don't think he'll stay black, as I think I see a hint of a
stripe. He will make a very nice herdsire: teeth, legs, conformation, are
all great.

Date of birth: 10/14/09

Foat Coat: Black
Sire: Stoney Acres Salem

Monica
and Salem did it again. They produced a second foal; this time a jack. This
little guy doesn't have a name yet, but he is perfect in every way. He is
also black-black-black. He is built like a tank. Short-bodied and square;
great legs and a good bite. As she did with her first foal, Monica is
keeping a tight rein on this foal. He will be an exceptional herdsire and
will be for sale.

Millie's second foal is
as spectacular as her first. Delilah in 2007, and now Chloe. We will continue
breeding Stoney Acres Salem to Short ASSets Millicent (aka Millie) as we are
very pleased with the results. Millie is such a sweetheart and she passes her
wonderful disposition on to her offspring. Photo taken at three months; we still
do not detect any stripe/cross.

Foal Coat: reddish-brown
Sire: H.R. Freedom, 29 1/2", black -
nlp - no cross or stripe
Dam: Ma & Pa's Libby - 33" dark gray &

We were surprised that
Libby didn't have a spot foal! This is the first time on our ranch that a spot
jennet did not have a spot foal. However, we are not at all disappointed with
this little guy. Pepper doesn't know any strangers. He's everyone's best friend.
Pepper is always happy and eager for hugs.

any fanfare. He immediately decided to be the most friendly donkey around and
his mom is so relaxed, she didn't mind him visiting with everyone the day after

Foal Coat: Very dark brown
Sire: H.R. Freedom, 29 1/2", black -

Dam: Gardner's Lavita Sue, ", dark
brown
We were happily
surprised when first-time mom, gave birth to this little jennet totally
unassisted. Ron had gone into the house to get a bite to eat; I was in St.
Louis. He went into the barnyard a few minutes later and here was this gorgeous
little friendly girl. Lavita Sue seemed to know exactly how to be the best mom
and the above photos (taken a couple hours after birth) show the love she feels
for this baby.. We couldn't be happier with this baby and mom. Oh.... thank you,
too, Freedom!

Quincy |
|
 |
|
Date of Birth: 04/14/2009
Foal Coat: spot
Sire: see below
Dam: Polka Dottie, spot
In September 2008, we rescued 6 donkeys (see our
blog). We thought the female spot was pregnant and we were right. Polka Dottie
gave birth at 5:30 in the afternoon to this georgeous little guy. However, she
wanted nothing to do with him. Every time he tried to nurse, she kicked him. We
hobbled her and tried again; but he was too afraid to try. After trying for
several hours, we gave his colostrum (from our freezer) and then began to feed
him Mare's Match foal milk replacer. He drinks from a bowl. Unfortunately, he
follows us around and thinks we are his mommy. We are trying to find a mature
jennet to accept him, so he has a protector and teacher. Quincy is nicely put
together and his bite is right on. He is as sweet as they come. Quincy will be
for sale to a very special family.

This is Millie's first foal -- and
she's a keeper! Delilah has the same great confirmation as Mom and both of
her grandfathers (MGF Future Link and Short ASSets Star's War). Yes, this
little girl's pedigree reads like a "Who's Who" in the Donkey World.
Millie is an excellent mother. We enjoy Delilah's antics each and every
day.

 |
|
Date of Birth: 09/07/2007
20" at birth
Foal Coat: black
Sire: Stoney Acres Salem - 33"
- black - NLP - no cross or stripe
Dam:
McMillan's Desdemona, 33-7/8", brown
Calypso is a shy, mommy-loving little
jack. He goes off with the other foals once in a while, but then comes
running back to mom! The above photos were taken October 21 and we now
detect a slight cross/stripe. We believe he will end up dark brown
w/stripe/cross. His conformation is outstanding as is his bite. He had his
first hoof trim at 6 weeks and was a very good boy. He will be ready for a
new home about mid-March 2008. We have decided to keep his full brother,
H.R. Desi, as a herd sire and cart donkey.

19 1/2" at birth
Foal Coat: black
Sire: Stoney Acres Salem - 33"
- black - NLP - no cross or stripe
Dam:
EA Santa Monica - 32 1/4" - dark brown
Monica and Salem have been "together" for 4 years --
with no pregnancy until this time! This little gem was well worth the
wait. She was only 19-1/2" at birth and weighed 18 pounds at one day old.
She is as black as they come, with a few white hairs on one side of her
forehead and a white muzzle. Mom is extremely protective (who can blame
her) and our little beauty is active and running circles around mom. We
will be anxious to see how this precious baby matures. |

23 " at birth
Foal Coat: steel gray
Sire: Stoney Acres Salem - 33"

Dam:
B-7 Sweetie Pie - 32-1/4", gray
Hannah came into this world early in the morning and
before the day was over, she was like a week old baby. She has done
everything early, including eating grass and grain. She is a very
independent girl and could care less if she's near her mom, except when it's
time for milk. She spends her time running, bucking, jumping, chasing the
cats, and being very inquisitive about everything around her. She's afraid
of nothing. She is nicely conformed and has the straightest legs we have
ever seen on a newborn. Teeth are very good. She's simply a joy to have
around.
This little jenny is for sale. |

842 ancestors per Pat Scanlan
Katrina was born to first-time
dad, H.R. Freedom and first-time mom, B-7 Sweetie Pie. What a super job
they did! This little girl is a whirlwind of activity and her mom has her
job cut out, just trying to keep up. Katrina weighed 25 lbs. at birth, and,
at barely 20", she is a very compact and filled out newborn. Teeth are
right-on (yes, she was born with teeth) and her legs and back are very
straight. Her chest looks nice and wide for a newborn. We will probably
keep her! Looking forward to breeding her to Stoney Acres Salem in a few
years.

"Shirl" does not have a speck
of white on her. She is a tiny, nicely conformed little jennet, and a
carbon copy of her full sister, H.R. Flashdance, born in 2003. She is
extremely friendly and fits in nicely with the rest of the moms and babies.
"Shirl" has been named by her new owners, Dave & Shirley Ostbloom, Ma & Pa's
Acres, Gretna, NE.

"Obie" had a rough start in
life. He was born "sunny side up". Our vet, Doc Oberle, saved his life,
and thus, his name. He is a very friendly and curious foal. Smugars is a
wonderful and experienced mom, and she keeps this little guy in tow. "Obie"
will make a wonderful pet.

He was barely 19" at birth and is as black as black can be. We
cannot see a stripe or cross. His teeth are "right-on". We can't find any
fault with this little guy. He is definitely a pocket donkey and will make
a fantastic herdsire/show donkey.

Barbie's Doll is just that: a
doll! She has a way of carrying herself that demands you to pay attention
to her. She loves to run circles around her mom, and shows off in the crowd
of moms and babies. Barbie's Doll is the first to run to you for
attention. She has an elegance about her. She will be your perfect show or
brood jennet. |

We are still trying to figure out what
color this little guy will be. We may not know until next summer. He was
born while I was at the grocery store and my husband was in St. Louis. We
are not used to our babies born during the daylight hours, so he surprised
us! Daryl has long hair and it is shiny and very soft. Hard to describe,
but very different texture than our other five babies born in the last few
weeks. Daryl is an absolute love and as soon as he sees us he comes
running for kisses, which we happily give. Daryl is correct: nice solid
build and in proportion, straight back, straight legs, good teeth. My
husband calls him "compact". He is named after my husband's brother,
Daryl, who died this summer.

Dam: H.R. Sabrina - 31" -
dark brown
1233 ancestors
per Pat Scanlan
Misty May was named after the U.S.
Olympic volleyball player. Misty was born while I was in Vermont at the
Third Annual Labor Day Weekend Donkey Spectacular. I was very nervous
leaving, with a baby due. Hubby was home donkey-sitting. First time mom,
H. R. Sabrina, delivered this beautiful baby all by herself. Misty wants
to be a very friendly baby, and mom just keeps pushing her around.
Usually toward us. She would come by herself, if mom would just give her
a break. We have had to take Misty in another pasture in order to spend
time with her without her mom pushing her.... Misty is correct in every
way and will make a nice show/brood jenny.

Gypsy has a quiet disposition and will
stand quietly for brushing or any kind of attention. Her first-time mom,
Tamborine, is overly-protective, so I think maybe when mom lets up a bit,
Gypsy will come into her own. She is correct and a real sweetheart.

foal of the year. Her name is the feminine of "Michael", our grandson,
whose birthday was one day before her birth. This dark beauty was up and
nursing when she was only 30 minutes old. She is a beautiful bundle of
energy and quite the lover. She is already following me around at 24
hours old. Michaela is correct in every way and we think she is simply
gorgeous.

H.R. Flalshdance is indeed a flashy
little girl. She is very energetic and a joy to be around. She is already
wrapping us around her little legs. Flashdance is the first foal of our
black herdsire, Stoney Acres Salem. She is a very feminine jennet. We are
thrilled with the birth of this little beauty. Since Flashdance has a very
faint cross, I do not know whether she will stay black or be black/brown.

Freedom is a beautiful solid black,
small foal. He is very correct, with a good bite, straight topline, and
nice, straight legs. He stood nicely for his very first hoof trim at
1-1/2 months. We plan to keep him as a future herd sire. We will then
have Chaboom bloodlines as well as Salem bloodlines. We think that will
give a nice balance to our herd.
